Legal Counsel Employment & Dispute Resolution

Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join a large, globally recognised organisation in the education sector on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Operating across multiple campuses and jurisdictions, this organisation offers a complex and highly regulated environment, providing exposure to a wide range of legal issues. The legal team is well-established, highly regarded internally, and plays a key role in supporting strategic and operational decision-making across the business.
This role has been created to support increased demand across employment, dispute resolution and investigations, and will see you working on sensitive, high-impact matters involving staff, students and broader stakeholders. It is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to step into an in-house role or deepen their experience within a purpose-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice on employment law, workplace relations and employee disputes
- Support complex investigations, including misconduct and regulatory risk matters
- Manage and assist with litigation, tribunal proceedings and dispute resolution processes
- Partner closely with HR and internal stakeholders on risk mitigation and strategic legal advice
- Deliver training and legal updates to business units
- Manage and instruct external legal counsel where required
Requirements
- Admitted as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate
- Experience in employment, workplace relations, or disputes
- Background in private practice or in-house (both considered)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and complex matters with discretion
- Commercial mindset with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
