Female Partners: London vs Sydney

Law firms are actively marketing their recent female Partner promotions.

I thought I’d do a quick ‘stat attack’ after an interesting conversation with a female Partner from a Magic Circle firm during lunch today.

How do Sydney and London compare when it comes to the number of females in Partnership roles?

The data sample I used is from the Magic Circle firms in London and the largest 5 firms (by total Partner number) in Sydney. I took the data from each firm’s website. I’ve aggregated numbers for both groups and provided the total percentage of females in Partnership roles:

London Magic Circle firms: 20.9%

Sydney Top 5: 29.7%

King & Wood Mallesons in Sydney leads the data set!

Is enough being done to reach (or even get near) gender equality? Why is London lagging far behind Sydney?
